Sherri's Hidden Gem

Sherri had moved into her adorable home 2 years prior to her call to Garden Therapy. As she settled into the interior, the backyard gardens became overgrown and unwieldy. The Garden Therapy crew spent several days weeding, pruning, transplanting, rebuilding walkways and adding new plants as well as obtaining yard art, and Sherri says she now has "magical gardens." The overgrown beds not only obstructed the view of the adorable garden shed at the back of the property, but also hid the beauty of some great plants hidden beneath.

Shed ... revealed

Pruning and removing overgrown and ailing shrubs, thinning overgrown perennials and removing weeds allowed for the addition of planters and colorful annuals, as well as better access to the shed.

Thistle heaven?

Hosta intermingled with tall thistles and other weeds to make for a messy welcome to the back patio and obstructed lovely brick and pebble pathways leading throughout the garden.

Welcoming space for entertaining

Removing the thistles and sun-burned hosta provided more space for wanted plants to spread out and breathe, and created a more welcoming environment to lead visitors into the garden. Clearing the pathways of debris uncovered their natural beauty and charm.

Vine-covered fence lines

Both sides of Sherri's backyard are bordered by privacy fence, which, in turn, were covered with a variety of vining plants. Removing them saved the fence and allowed us to reshape numerous Rose of Sharon shrubs which were being strangled by them.

A call to order

Sherri conferred with us throughout the process of unveiling the true, beautiful nature of her backyard gardens. Together, we decided what should be kept and what should go, how to get unwanted plants to a good home, what additions should be made to her space and a myriad of other decisions to bring control back to her gardens. We had fun working with her and meeting both her sweet dog and great-niece (and the neighbors' runaway chicken). For a while there, it was almost like being part of the family. After all, that's what Garden Therapy is all about!
